Detour to Destiny-Episode 2, Part 3

Now, walking down the aisle, Paige kept her eyes on the stained glass windows at the front of the cathedral. She knew that if she looked to the side, she would trip and fall or get too nervous to finish her walk to the arch. The smile on her face was pasted on, merely to fool everyone that she was in full control of her movements and emotions.

Paige reached the front of the sanctuary with her back to Chris. She knew her next move would be to turn around and stand opposite him. A deep breath kept her emotions at bay for the time being, and if she kept her eyes on Riley, everything would be fine. She could feel both of them watching her as she finally made it to the arch.

Paige turned around at her designated position. She looked up and met Chris' eyes. From this distance it was hard to know what he was thinking. The smile on his face was harder to handle. The feelings from their first meeting came rushing back to haunt her and she nearly lost the ability to stand.

Paige swallowed hard and turned her gaze to Riley. His eyes were transfixed on the back of the church and she knew that Paulette had finally made her appearance.

All eyes turned toward Paulette as she slowly made her way down the aisle. She was even more stunning under the sanctuary lights. Paige admired her confidant stride and the look on her face was pure magic. She looked back at Riley and he had the same glow about him.

Paige moved her eyes back toward her mother and smiled a true, warm smile. She could not help herself as the shared love of the couple enveloped the entire room. All thoughts of Chris and petty issues were gone in a moment. In this moment, Paulette truly was the luckiest woman in the world.

As Paulette got closer, Paige could see the warmth in her eyes. The love she felt for Riley was a true and pure kind of love. Paige only hoped that one day she would be lucky enough to find someone to love with even a portion of what the engaged couple shared.
